Doug Morency

Doug Morency is a multiple award-winning actor and improviser. He has over 30 years of professional experience as an improviser. He is an alumnus of The Second City Toronto, where he wrote and performed in 7 Main Stage revues. He went on to direct 2 shows for the Main Stage after directing the National Touring Company for 2 years. Doug taught on the faculty at The Second City Toronto Training Center for over 10 years. Since moving to Los Angeles in 2010, he has been on the faculty at The Second City Hollywood.

In 2014, Doug was one of a small group of directors from The Second City selected to go to Japan and work with comedians from Yoshimoto Entertainment. Yoshimoto is one of the biggest entertainment companies in Japan and were looking for something new to add to their live theater shows. In all Doug travelled to Japan 3 times that year and not only taught them the basics of improv but ended up directing them in their first ever public performances.

Doug is a proud SAG-AFTRA member. Selected credits include: Anger Management, Criminal Minds, The Big Bang Theory, The Middle, The Odd Couple, Mike & Molly and MOM. He has multiple appearances on both Jimmy Kimmel Live and Conan. He enjoyed a recurring role on Canada’s own Degrassi: The Next Generation.

Doug Morency is one half of The Williamson Playboys, the world’s oldest father and son Cajun music duo (williamsonlayboys.com). With the Playboys he has appeared on NBC’s Last Comic Standing, CBC television and at The Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal.

Stage credits include the original production of The Drowsy Chaperone and playing Al Gore in An Inconvenient Musical.

Doug is a multiple Canadian Comedy Award winner including 2 for ‘Best Male Improviser’. He is a member of the improv troupe, ‘The EH Team’ which recently won ‘Best of the Fest’ at the LA Comedy Festival.

Doug is the co-owner of Connect Studios LA, which specializes in acting and improv classes to professional actors in Los Angeles.
