Second City alumni and some familiar faces were recognized for their stupendous work last week by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association when the nominees for the 2019 Golden Globes were announced.
Oscar winning writer and director Adam McKay and his film Vice (which features a very Donald Rumsfeld-y Steve Carell as...Donald Rumsfeld) nabbed six nominations, including Best Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy, Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor.
Oscar winner Alan Arkin was deservedly nominated for his work in Netflix's The Kominsky Method.
And here's a few more Second City connections we're not too proud to mention:
Two of the films up for Best Animated Film features the voices of Second City alums-- Ralph Breaks the Internet (Jack McBrayer as "Felix") and The Incredibles 2 (Bob Odenkirk as "Winston Deavor").
One of the co-writers of Best Motion Picture - Drama nominee BlackkKlansman is 2017 Second City Training Center grad David Rabinowitz, who studied both improv and directing at our Hollywood loction.
And Bill Hader (who you may remember gave The Second City an incredibly generous shout-out in his Emmy acceptance speech) is up for Best Performance by an Actors in a TV Series - Musical or Comedy for Barry.
You better believe we'll be watching NBC on January 6th to see who wins. And whose weird clapping becomes an instant meme.
