At Monday night's 50th annual Joseph Jefferson Awards, Committee Chair David Liesse honored The Second City, along with three other legendary Chicago theater and artistic companies, for over 50 years of work.
Second City co-owner and Executive Producer Andrew Alexander accepted the special award, thanking the theater's early visionaries and co-founders Viola Spolin, Paul Sills, Bernie Sahlins, Howard Alk, Sheldon Patinkin and Joyce Sloane for being "the reasons Second City remains a vital force in the unending effort to reflect and examine the world around us through art."
Also recognized for over half a century of artistic contributions were the Goodman Theatre, Drury Lane Productions and Court Theatre.
